Registration for the ICOM General Conference 2025 is open! From 11 to 17 November 2025, museum professionals and cultural leaders from across the globe will gather in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, for the most significant event of the international museum community. Held every three years, the ICOM General Conference is a global event in the museum field, bringing together thousands of professionals from all over the world to shape the future of museums through dialogue, exchange, and collaboration.

Presenting the ICOM Award Longlist of eligible projects
Following the call for applications in 2024, and with the valued support of our ICOM Bodies (National Committes, International Committes, Regional Alliances and Affiliated Organisations), the ICOM Award received 130 eligible submissions from 60 countries, a powerful demonstration of the sector’s engagement with the Sustainable Development Goals. This longlist reflects the diversity, creativity, and commitment of museums across the globe. It stands as a tribute to the professionals and institutions working to harness the potential of museums in building a more sustainable and equitable future.

Recent reports from ICOM’s Syrian members have outlined the emergence of an active black market for cultural objects in Syria. Electronic treasure-hunting devices are openly sold in major Syrian cities and objects found during illegal excavations are publicly advertised for sale on social media.
